Christmas in July, anyone?

Christmas in July. Some folks scoff at it, but those of us who recognize the early draw to the upcoming holidays revel in these days when we start readying for and looking ahead to the Christmas season—despite the awful heat.

Stores take advantage of “Christmas in July” by touting sales, but what we early birds revel in is not the bargain found. It is the thought that soon, relatively soon, less than six months away, Christmas will come again. The season of joy

(and stress, but mostly joy) is at hand. There are the lazy days of summer and the colorful stages of autumn in between, of course, but Christmas, oh, yes, Christmas, appears in our hearts and minds right now as if we are experiencing a strange, mental teleportation from the depths of summer to those chilly, wintry weeks of anticipation, preparation, celebration.

For this early festive period, I am sharing in the below slideshow some cheery, Christmas-y photos from my past Christmas décor and crafting. When not working on my next two books, I have been making greeting cards, as well!

What do you for Christmas in July? Drop a comment and let me know.
