Anyone who’s read less than half my blogs will still recognize how much I love the Christmas holidays. It’s May now. May 22nd, to be exact, and the temperature at 12:06 is still 49 degrees. I’m debating with myself as my fingers grow chill and I put tights on under my sweats, whether I should turn the heat back on. It is in the low 60s here in the house and the temperatures aren’t going to get any better outside over the next several days. And it’s raining. Did I mention that?
I’m thinking I wouldn’t be too off-base saying it’s darned chilly. In the meantime, my darling cousin Pattie is lounging outside in shorts and a tee shirt expecting a high of 91 (in Georgia, before you get too excited).
But the weather does make me think of winter and Christmas. Yes, I repeat, winter and Christmas, in May. I am working on my latest installment to the Connor Falls Christmas series, so feeling Christmas-y isn’t detrimental to my state of mind. It’s helpful, even, as long as I make like Bob Cratchit and keep warming my fingers over a scrawny little candle. Because I’d like to be able to maintain my typing agility while I have the Christmas feels in my heart.

Okay, so I have engaged a bit in my usual digression. I actually wanted to bring up to you my plan for this evening, which I will spend wrapped up in a blanket or two with my flannel pjs on. And that plan is to watch the Hawkeye episodes on Disney Plus for the, um, dare I admit, fifth time through.
In my 2025 iteration of my favorite Christmas shows to watch, Hawkeye will be a top addition (along with The Santa Clauses because, yeah, I’ve watched those two seasons about ten times since Christmas). Why would I add Hawkeye, you might ask?

Well, for one, it takes place during the Christmas season. So do two of the Die Hard movies, you might decide to remind me, and they are hardly standard Christmas fare. Hawkeye is just as violent in its own way, and the violence is occasionally set to Christmas tunes, much of which have been altered to a more ominous but still recognizable beat and tone.
The most relevant reason to me for declaring the Hawkeye series a favorite for the holidays is the underlying joy, love, friendship, family values, comedy, banter, glimpses of holiday decor–the usual warm and fuzzies for this Christmas-besotted gal.

And then there’s Jeremy Renner. Sorry, I had to throw him in there. I have a small, old lady crush on the guy.
So, taking him out of the equation, there’s still the rest of it. If you happen to subscribe to Disney Plus and even if you’re not a Marvel fan, give it a try. You might find yourself as enamored as I am. I can see you adding Hawkeye to your own lists, too. Or at least, I can pretend you are. Besottedness loves company, after all.
Merry May, everyone!
